BASALT
BASALT
LoadingA former collegiate rower who now coaches the two early morning conditioning sessions. Nia is the reason the aerobic work at BASALT has a plan behind it.

Nia rowed for four years at Syracuse and started coaching in 2019. Her particular interest is the part of conditioning most gyms skip: the long, unglamorous aerobic work that makes the hard sessions possible.
She rebuilt the endurance side of the CrossFit track around tested paces rather than perceived effort, which means members now know what a sustainable pace actually is for them instead of guessing at it every session.
She coaches the 5:30 sessions on Monday and Wednesday and holds CrossFit Level 2 and Concept2 rowing coach credentials.
